No need to run to your console or PC to pre-order just yet, though, since this announcement is just the initial signing of the contract for One More Level to begin production on a sequel. It will likely be some time before we see any actual gameplay or learn of a release window or release date.
In the meantime, fans of the first game can still look forward to new updates and DLC set to release throughout the rest of the year. You can find all the details for what’s to come in our write-up of that previous announcement.
Ghostrunner launched just last fall and was praised for its fast-paced, high-octane combat and platforming, along with its incredible visual design and fidelity. It’s no surprise that One More Level would want to develop a sequel, with the first game selling over 600,000 copies worldwide in under a year.
In our review, we called it an action platformer that’s “fast, frenetic, and, even in the face of its weaker moments, endlessly satisfying.”
There’s no mention of a PS4, Xbox One, or Switch release for the sequel, though Ghostrunner is currently available on all those platforms. One More Level is currently working on a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrade for the game, which is set to be out by the end of 2021.
