That’s because it, and apparently Toxitricity’s Gigantamax forms, are locked behind events. Either way, we’ll be getting a chance at Gigantamax Snorlax starting December 4.
The Pokemon Company released a new trailer this morning showing off what we’ve dubbed Gigantalax, announcing it will be available in special Max Raid battles in Sword and Shield’s Wild Area from December 4 until January 4, 2020.
It’s a fairly short timeframe, similar to legendary Raids in Pokemon GO, but there’s no indication this will be the only chance we’ll ever get to catch the special Snorlax either.
Gigantamax Snorlax comes with the special move G-Max Replenish, which restores all the Berries your team ate during that battle. How useful that will end up being depends on your playstyle, of course, but official artwork shows Gigantamax Snorlax is packing a finger ray of death too.
After that, the trailer shows off all of the starter evolutions. If you haven’t picked the games up yet and want to remain unspoiled, don’t watch past the 0:42 mark.
Hopefully, Game Freak will have sorted out the Raid problem by the time the Gigantamax Snorlax Max Raids start. If not, at least we have a whole month to try and catch Gigantamax Snorlax.
