This free event is designed to give indie developers the chance to showcase their games and receive more attention from gamers, critics, and industry leaders. Developers will also have the chance to win a number of prizes such as Tango devices, tickets to Google I/O (Google’s premier conference) 2017, and ad campaign support. Public attendees, meanwhile, will be able to try out a number of new, innovative indie titles and interact with developers and other professionals.
Interested developers can submit their games until August 14; the 30 games selected to be presented at the conference will be announced at the end of August. Submissions are open to developers in the U.S. or Canada with no more than 15 full-time employees who have published a game on or after January 1, 2016 or plan to launch later this year.
Google said the event is meant to “celebrate and showcase the passion and innovation of indie game developers.” The company is also looking to convince more developers to launch and make their games available on Google Play.
“If you’re an indie game developer, you know that games are a powerful medium of expression of art,” Google states in the conference’s submission form. “Being on Google Play can help you reach over a billion users and build a successful, global business.”
